Sayers joins John Deere supply base
VERNON HILLS, IL (OCTOBER 1, 2009) Gale Sayers, Chairman of Sayers, today announced a new IT outsourcing agreement with Moline-based Deere and Company. Sayers, headquartered in Vernon Hills, IL, will provide John Deere units in North America with tailored IT lifecycle management services using its proprietary 5-stage methodology: Asset Discovery, Procurement, Configuration, Deployment and Disposal. "Many of the top companies today are looking to focus their internal IT resources on the most strategic initiatives, and to partner with providers who meet their quality, performance and flexibility requirements on other important but slightly less strategic projects. Our tech refresh services are one of our core competencies, a competency honed by working with the nation's largest hospital network on a system-wide refresh project that now exceeds 50,000 assets," said Sayers. Al Bibergall, Senior Vice President at Sayers who heads the project, said, "The tech refresh challenge is significant. Companies like Deere want to optimize IT assets across the enterprise. That includes even the most basic assets like desktops, laptops and peripherals. These companies want to increase computing power. They want to save money. And they want to do it without disrupting their workflows and without diluting their own resources. Our integrated, single source approach is differentiating in the eyes of many of our customers. On the other hand, we have other customers who want us to unbundle our services. The optimal solution can vary by customer, and by project. We think you need to demonstrate flexibility, as well as capability, to respond effectively to the time-pressured demands of customers today."

Sayers: My Life and Times
Four decades ago, Gale Sayers allowed his remarkable running ability on the football field to speak for him. Today, Sayers has a powerful and poignant message to pass along not only to athletes but to everyone, and it's a message straight from his heart. Sayers, who grew up in modest surroundings in Omaha, Neb., is the son of a car polisher and mechanic. After fielding 75 college scholarship offers, he selected Kansas, where he became an All-American halfback before being selected in the first round of the 1965 draft by the Bears. Later, he became the youngest man ever inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, at age 34. Since leaving pro football, his enduring message to young athletes is to respect the game, give back to the community and prepare for the future. Those are words he has lived by his entire life, and they make Sayers: My Life and Times one of the most compelling sports memoirs to come along in recent years.
